NOT IN RIC

UNLISTED OFFICINA - I. There is an inconsistency in RIC. In general note on p. 607 Sutherland writes that "Diocletian's Providentia Deorum Quies Aug comes from A only". But on p. 632 this issue [ANTIOCHIA 113-114] is described as having no officina letter! Additionally, in footnote 3 on p. 632 Sutherland emphasizes that "the three personally examined specimens of this type have all shown the mintmark as •ANT[annulet], without officina-letter". Also the relevant coin on plate 15, no. 114, shows no officina letter. However, it may be obliterated.

Officina I is not attested and is highly unexpected. Alleged 'I' may be regarded as a remaining of heavily distorted 'A'.
