OBVERSE

REVERSE

GENIOIMP-E-RATORIS [GENIO IMPERATORIS]; Genius stg. l., modius on head, naked but for chlamys over l. shoulder, r. holding patera (from which liquor flows), l. cornucopiae. HTA in exergue. Two "dolphins" on each side of Genius and "delta" in left field.

NOT IN RIC

UNLISTED REVERSE. Genius with "dolphins" looks very peculiar and of course RIC does not list such variation of HERACLEA 42. It may be a "fantasy piece" made by bored engraver or more probably a strange result of a die crack. Because of large distortion of rev., the attribution is not certain. This coin could be also HERACLEA 48b, HERACLEA 53b or even HERACLEA 59b.

NOTES

Weight 6.30 g; diameter 24 mm. Coin sold on eBay in April 2006 for USD 44.78.
