IMPDIOCLETIANVS•AVG [IMP DIOCLETIANVS • AVG]; bust l., laur. helmet, cuir., sceptre over r. shoulder, studded shield on l. arm [MM var.].

REVERSE

GENIOPOP-VLIROMANI [GENIO POPVLI ROMANI]; Genius stg. l., modius on head, naked but for chlamys over l. shoulder, r. holding patera, l. cornucopiae. Altar in left field, A in right field. PLC in exergue.

BUST TYPE VARIETY. Specimen similar to LUGDUNUM 125a (BM B.1065, 6.57 g) with bust type MM except for laureate helmet. Note that for this issue RIC does not distinguish plain helmet from laureate helmet or radiate helmet. However, this difference is mentioned in footnotes (cf. footnotes 5, 6 and 12 on p. 250 or footnote 3 on p. 251).

Listed in Bastien Lyon (294-316) (p. 175, no. 139). Note that Bastien lists under this number only LUGDUNUM 125a, officina A; all specimens (3 ex.) with laureate helmet and with dot in obv. legend. Officina B is listed in Bastien Lyon (294-316) separately (p. 182, no. 186); all atested specimens with plain helmet, no dot in obv. legend.
