REVERSE

IOVICO-N-SERVAT [IOVI CONSERVAT]; Jupiter stg. l., chlamys hanging from l. shoulder, r. holding thunderbolt, l. leaning on sceptre. IAS (sic!) in exergue.

REVERSE VARIETY. Specimen similar to SISCIA 189) (ANS 1948.19.276, 5.68 g, 20 mm; cited in RIC) except for absence of eagle at Jupiter's feet. Note that SIS in m.m. is partially destroyed because of hole which was later filled. Not listed in Depeyrot.

NOTES

Aureus. Weight 5.28 g. Coin sold on Numismatica Ars Classica auction 71 (lot 278) in May 2013 for CHF 7,500.
