RIC VII, LONDON [after 300], CONSTANTINE I, UNLISTED MINTMARK [IRREGULAR COIN]

OBVERSE

CONSTAN-TINVSAVG [CONSTANTINVS AVG]; head r., laur., cuir.

REVERSE

PROVIDE-NTICAES [PROVIDENTI (sic!) CAES]; camp gate, two turrets, no doors, star above, varying number of stone layers. PLN in exergue.

NOT IN RIC

UNLISTED MINTMARK. RIC lists Providentiae issue with m.m. PLON (p. 116). But note crude style, unexpectet bust type for Constantine I and errors in rev. legend (PROVIDENTI CAES instead of PROVIDENTIAE AVGG). Specimen should be regarded as an ancient imitation.

NOTES

Diameter 18 mm. From the UK Detector Finds Database, no. 3635.
