RIC VII, TRIER [after 538], CONSTANTINE I, UNLISTED OBVERSE LEGEND AND BUST TYPE [IRREGULAR COIN]

OBVERSE

CONSTANTINVSNVG [CONSTANTINVS NVG (sic!)]; bust r., laur., cuir.

REVERSE

GLOR-[IA]EXER-[C]ITVS [GLORIA EXERCITVS]; two soldiers stg. facing one another, holding spear in outer hand, inner hand resting on shield set on ground; between them two standards. TR•S in exergue.

NOT IN RIC

UNLISTED OBVERSE LEGEND AND BUST TYPE. RIC lists only longer obv. legend: CONSTANTINVS MAX AVG. Also bust type B5 is not attested for Constantine I. Note error in obv. legend: "A" in AVG looks rather like "N". Note also very light weight. Apparently an ancient imitation. Could be noted after TRIER 538.

NOTES

Weight 1.19 g; diameter 15 mm. From José María Marin's collection.
