OBVERSE

IMPLICI-[NIVSAVG] [IMP LICINIVS AVG]; head r., laur.

REVERSE

HERCVLI-INVICTO [HERCVLI INVICTO]; Hercules stg. l., r. leaning on club, l. holding lion's skin. PTR in exergue.

NOT IN RIC

UNLISTED ISSUE. Not attested in RIC VII. Not listed in Zschucke BTP. Similar to fractions minted for Constantine with SAPIENT PRINCIP rev. (TRIER 62-65). See also Zschucke BTP p. 70-71. Note, however, that this attribution is uncertain. The letters in the exergue are distorted (only T is clear), so it could be HTA, i.e. Heraclea mint which used similar m.m. in 315-317 (cf. HERACLEA 11-15). Otherwise, coin should be listed before TRIER 62.

NOTES

Fraction. Weight 0.66 g; diameter 13 mm. Coin sold on CNG eAuction 331 (lot 335) in July 2014 for USD 85. Now in the Robert Bernobich Collection.
