RIC VII, LYONS [after 221], CONSTANTINE II, MINTMARK VARIETY

OBVERSE

CONSTANTINVSIVNNOBC [CONSTANTINVS IVN NOB C]; bust l., laur., dr., cuir.

REVERSE

CAESARVMNOSTRORVM [CAESARVM NOSTRORVM]; laurel wreath enclosing VOT/•/•X• in three lines. PLGC in exergue.

NOT IN RIC

MINTMARK VARIETY. Specimen similar to LYONS 221 (Leu Numismatik web auction 8, lot 1539, 3.05 g, 19 mm) except for the third dot above X (p. 135). Bastien Lyon (318-337) (p. 168-169, no. 181) records this variety as a sub-type. However, in the present author's opinion this third dot is rather a centering dot, merely technical. Otherwise, coin could be listed as a minor variety of LYONS 221 or after LYONS 221.
