RIC VII, THESSALONICA 192, CONSTANTINE II, [CORRECTION]

OBVERSE

CONSTANTINVSIVNNOBC [CONSTANTINVS IVN NOB C]; bust r., plain diadem, dr., cuir.

REVERSE

PRINCIPIIVVENTVTIS [PRINCIPI IVVENTVTIS]; prince stg. r., cloak spread, holding transverse spear and globe. TS in exergue.

NOT IN RIC

[CORRECTION]. RIC cites specimen from Hirsch auction ("Hirsch xxiv, 2626"). Actually, this specimen (now in the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin) has shorter obv. legend, ...IVN NOB C, not ...IVN NOB CAES (i.e. 7b, not 7a). Note also that prince is described in RIC as holding transverse sceptre.

NOTES

Gold fraction. Weight 1.69 g; diameter 15 mm. From the Münzkabinett of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin Collection (reg. no. 18244530) [Thanks to the collaboration of Dr. Karsten Dahmen].
